VR Education Module for Autistic Children
Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that manifests impairments in social interaction and a lack of emotional interpretation skills. Though intensive behavioral intervention is one of the only validated treatments among various options, accessible and affordable behavioral treatments are yet to come. Abiding by the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), our project presents a VR program that can be used to improve the key impairments of ASD. The software provides a chance encounter situation that everyone is likely to confront daily. We aim to improve the overriding issues of ABA, the matter of accessibility and cost, simultaneously designing a phased learning format that differs from the preceding related attempts.
